Medical Research that includes Candida Learned from Shuttle Flights
Tulane scientists have been part of a shuttle program that takes research into space from which a great deal of medical knowledge has been learned. There have been a wide range of experiments and studies done, from creating an artificial liver, curing drug interactions, food poisoning and Candida the yeast that causes yeast infections. Using Black Walnut to Treat Candida
Black walnut trees can grow up to 120 feet high and have leaves that are 6 to 12 inches long in lance shapes. When immature the fruit of the black walnut tree is round and green with fleshy outer husks, but when they dry they become dark brown and hard nuts. Black walnut contains tannin, a natural anti-fungal substance found in a number of plants. It is particularly used in eastern medicine as well as alternative herbal remedies in western supplements including those that use black walnut to treat candida. Black walnut used in alternative medicine is derived from the unripened fruit, bark and leaves.
Chronic Yeast Infection and its Causes
The fungus that causes a yeast infection actually naturally lives on our bodies and is called Candida Albicans. Within normal numbers, while the body is balanced, they are harmless and are kept at acceptable levels by the good bacteria in our body (Lactobacillus acidophilus). If that balance is disturbed it can lead to a chronic yeast infection.
