Yeast in Men
Yeast infections are usually linked to women but men can get them too. However whilst most women are more aware of the symptoms to look for, men usually have no clue about Candida yeast infections which can mean their infection goes undiagnosed, untreated or at best mistreated.
Yeast Infection in Men
Oral yeast infection is also commonly known as Thrush and infects the mucous membranes of the throat and mouth. Candida Albicans is the yeast that causes it and this micro organism lives on many of us without doing harm and kept under control by good bacteria in our bodies. When an imbalance happens the Candida can over grow and this leads to a yeast infection.
Men Get Yeast Infections
When discussing yeast infections the focus tends to go to women as the most common type of yeast infection is vaginal. This is because the micro organism that causes an infection called Candida Albicans that lives naturally on our bodies, in particular likes to live in the female genitalia for the warm and moist conditions. However this is misleading as in fact anyone can get a yeast infection, men, women and children. Sadly male yeast infections are probably one of the most ignored and mistreated male illnesses today.
Causes of Yeast Infection
The fungi that leads to a yeast infection is actually already on the body but is usually kept under control. If its environment changes to being more moist and warm, it grows. Usually our body is able to keep the fungi from over growing through our immune system and good bacteria we have.
