When you get a yeast infection it is because of a fungi called Candida Albicans over growing and spreading. This is a problem for millions of women world wide. The fungus lives naturally on our bodies and usually is harmless but if allowed to multiply it then becomes an infection. There are some things you can do at home in order to lessen the chance of getting one.

First try to make changes to your diet. Cut out sugar as it is a main food for the yeast so it promotes its growth. Also avoid carbohydrates, yeast and fermented products.

After washing make sure you really dry your skin well. The fungus loves a moist and warm environment. Also when swimming, sunbathing or using a hot tub, try to change out of your wet clothing as soon as you can.

Your clothing needs to be loose and preferably underwear should be made of a breathable fabric like cotton. Tight, synthetic clothing makes you sweat thereby creating that wet and warm environment the yeast loves.

A couple of excellent home remedies if you have a yeast infection are garlic and yogurt. Do not worry, I am not saying you have to eat garlicy yogurt! To use garlic, peel a clove and wrap it in cloth and insert up the vagina. To use the yogurt smear it on the infection or use a tampon dipped in olive oil then yogurt and then insert.

Garlic works because of its antifungal and antibacterial properties which attack the yeast and yogurt works becasue of the good bacteria in it that kill the yeast. It replenishes any good bacteria you are missing that would have kept the fungus under control in the first place. Make sure the yogurt is sugar and fruit free! You want plain live or probiotic yogurt, there are plenty out there. Of course you can eat lots of both too to get the benefits internally.

There are many sufferers that have to deal with chronic yeast infections and have found that no matter how many times they use over the counter treatments, they are not working. The infection keeps coming back. What people do not realize is that such treatments are doing what they are designed to; they treat the symptoms. They are not made to treat the core problem and so the infection returns and with continued use the over the counter options become less effective as the infection becomes resistant.

To find remedies that work you need to look at what mother nature offers and make some changes to your habits and diet. This will deal with the root cause of the chronic yeast infection. There are things you can do to improve your immune system and to give your body good bacteria that will help the fight.

Take a good look at your lifestyle and look at what changes you can make that will help make your immune system work better. Get plenty of exercise, proper sleep, eat the right daily amount of fruit and vegetables and drink at least 8 glasses of water. Also look at your clothing, wear loose items that are made of breathable materials like cotton.

Look at your diet and as well as making it more healthy by avoiding processed and convenience foods cut out foods and drinks high in sugar like sodas, fruit juices, cakes and cookies. Sugar after all feeds the yeast. Also avoid foods with yeast in them like bread and beer.

Try to avoid over relying on antibiotics as they kill all bacteria the good ones and the bad ones. You want the good ones because they are the ones that fight the yeast. Steroids also need to be avoided. A good supplement you can take is acidophilus as it replaces your body with those good bacteria.

Though you may not like some of these ideas because they involve getting active and changing your foods, this is the way to go if you want to be rid of the yeast infection once and for all.

Many adults think incorrectly that yeast infections are grown up infections not infant. However, children can just as easily develop the conditions that candida loves. They do not just get Thrush (yeast infection of the mouth). Candida can multiply out of control in the young and lead to an infant yeast infection anywhere it is warm and wet.

Of course the main place other than the mouth that has a warm, wet environment is the diaper area. It is a great place for the yeast to grow due to the diaper trapping heat and urine against the baby’s skin. It is therefore extremely important that babies and infants still in diapers should be changed regularly. The area must be cleaned and allowed to dry, particularly in hot conditions such as summer time, when the child will be sweaty down there. If you use cloth diapers they must be cleaned carefully and thoroughly to make sure the candida does not have the environment it needs to spread.

Another action you can take to help your child is be very careful about them taking antibiotics. This is one of the most well known causes of yeast infections. Antibiotics attack bacteria, all of it, meaning they destroy the bacteria flora which are the micro organisms in the child’s body that were actually keeping the candida under control and thus preventing an infection.

Symptoms to watch out for in babies and infants are rashes, itching, crying when urinating and redness in the genital area. If you observe any of these, do not presume it will just go away by itself. You need to visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis. There are natural remedies to deal with yeast infections, but as you are dealing with young children it is important to consult with your doctor about any treatment you are considering in case your child proves to be sensitive to them. Natural remedies are less costly, are time proven and are pretty easy to find.

With all these being said, you now know the main important things to do when trying to deal with an infant yeast infection.

Many women have experienced a yeast infection of the vaginal area and if they haven’t yet they are very likely to at some point. The awful symptoms of itching down in that sensitive area plus the pain, redness, discharge and odor are all awful to have to deal with and make life difficult to get on with; anyone who has it wants to know how to get rid of yeast infection for good!

The infection is caused when tiny organisms called Candida albicans are given the right environment in which to grow. These organisms are already in your body for most people but are harmless because they are kept in balance by the good bacteria in your body. But certain things can cause that to change.

Luckily there are many ways to deal with a yeast infection starting with good hygiene routines. Known as the primary step, make sure the area is kept clean by washing with warm water and soap. Try to wash more than once a day using a clean cotton towel. Soaps and ointments need to be mild, unscented and get good quality not cheap brands as they tend to be more effective.Very importantly make sure you dry the infected region with care and attention, as the yeast thrives in moist areas.

When putting on underwear make sure it is loose and is cotton or another material that allows the skin to breathe. Synthetic material and tight underwear keep it wet and hot down there making the yeast infection worse.

There are other things you need to watch out for including chemicals around that region. Tampons, perfumed items, fabric softener and soap, toilet paper, condoms are all items you need to check very carefully before using. Sometimes eco-friendly products are the better option as they tend to be chemical free so you are not providing a friendly environment for the yeast. There are other steps you can take to help prevent or get rid of yeast infections; should those above not stop it, do some further research or try some of the recommended remedies. There are also other several great natural remedies you can try.

Skin yeast infections are surprisingly common amongst people today. It’s caused by a fungus that is in our bodies but given the right environment grows more than it should and spreads across the body. This leads to your skin’s natural condition becoming imbalanced thus becoming an infection. In fact seventy percent or more of all people, men, women and children will face a Candida yeast infection sooner or later. Note that Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. The other common area that can become infected is the genital area.

The cause of this infection can be any of a number of things, or a combination of them. Birth control pills cause an imbalance of hormones for women, antibiotics can kill the good bacteria that fight the yeast, poor diet with too much sugar that feeds the fungus are all examples of causes. Symptoms can be extremely frustrating and can have drastic effects on sufferers ranging from a severe itching, rashes, swelling, redness, and an odor that has a yeasty smell. Some even have a symptom where their skin starts looking like elephant skin. However some of these symptoms can be explained by other illnesses so before treating it with yeast infection remedies. Do seek medical advice by visiting your doctor for a professional opinion or a clinic.

Prevention of a skin yeast infection involves taking several steps. Wear clothes that are not skin tight, loose fitting clothes allow air to get to your skin and lets it breathe. Babies must be changed regularly and kept clean and dry all over but particularly in the diaper area. There is anti-fungal powder that can also be used every day to prevent the fungus’ growth.

If the prevention tactics outlines above are too late and you already have an infection, the best thing to do if you are looking for a treatment that has no side effects, is to use natural remedies. There are drugs and over the counter treatments but they are more expensive and have side effects. The natural remedies that work help with the symptoms and deal with the cause of the skin yeast infection and they are easy to find!

This article deals with how to prevent and treat yeast infections, because if you have ever had one I am sure you want to know how to get rid of it and how to never get it again! Yeast infections do have a nasty habit of recurring if they are not treated successfully. There is good news though as there are several things you can do to prevent them and plenty of effective home remedies to treat them as well as over the counter options and medications.

This is by far the better option! Better to stop it ever happening than having to deal with those awful symptoms and finding the treatment for you that works. Here are some things you can do to take an active approach to preventing infections:

• Eat yogurt! Certain kinds of yogurt has good bacteria in it or probiotics, and these help keep yeast infections at bay. Plain yogurt is best, as sugar feeds the fungus.
• Eat plenty of vegetables. Good for your general health anyway but also good for preventing yeast infections.
• Visit your local health store and ask about supplements as there are some out there that you can take to help.
• CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Make sure you keep your genitals clean and dry thoroughly after washing.
• Wash underclothes in hot water, dry them in the hot sun or in the tumble drier on hot.
• Do not wear tight underwear. Keep it loose and let some air in!
• Wear underwear and pants hose that is cotton or a material that breathes.

Treatment options:

There are several things you can do to treat a yeast infection. You can visit your doctor and get prescribed yeast infection medication and there are over the counter treatments from your pharmacy. For many people these are effective ways to deal with the disease but some are deciding not to because of side effects and because they do not always tackle the root of the problem.

For those people, the third treatment option is home remedies. There are several remedies you can use at home that are very effective including honey, garlic, apple cider vinegar and yogurt. These also prove to be a lot more cost effective treatments without side effects.

In conclusion, yeast infection medication is not necessarily the best option out there for dealing with candida.

It is an interesting fact that three out of four women world wide will have had a yeast infection at some time in their life. Clearly yeast infections are a common ailment though this does not mean they are not extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant to deal with. They can make a woman’s life a very difficult time whilst infected. There is much writing and discussion about yeast infections; symptoms, how to avoid them, how to treat them. But it is also important to know why they happen, what causes yeast infections, why do they reoccur and why do some women seem to get them more often than others.

It starts with a fungus called Candida Albicans. This can be found in many places around the body including your mouth, the vagina and your intestines. Where ever this fungus is, the yeast infection could develop. They do not automatically cause a yeast infection. In order for that to happen an imbalance has to occur and this lets them multiply.

When the fungus over grows in the mouth the infection is known as Thrush. There are different reasons why the fungus might be allowed to do this including:

Tight clothing – this allows moisture to stay trapped in the area thus giving the fungi its perfect environment in which to grow.

Antibiotics – these are designed to kill bacteria. Unfortunately they do not know the difference between bad bacteria and good bacteria so they kill it all. The good bacteria is what was keeping the fungus under control.

Pregnancy – during pregnancy the body is out of balance anyway thus possibly leading to a yeast infection.

Diabetes – is a problem with sugar. Sugar feeds the fungus that leads to a yeast infection.
There are other reasons for yeast infections to occur but those mentioned are the main ones. Some you can help control and some you cannot. Also worth knowing is that women who have a lot of yeast infections should consider getting tested for HIV as it has been found that HIV positive women commonly have reoccurring infections. That does not mean of course that you definitely have HIV, just that it should be checked. If we understand how and why something happens, we are better equipped at preventing it.

Now that you know exactly what causes yeast infections, you can probably deal with the situation a lot better and in a natural way.
