Before you look for a permanent yeast infection cure you need to make sure that what you have is really a candida problem, as there are other vaginal infections that have similar symptoms such as discomfort, redness and itching. Visit your doctor to find out what the problem is to rule out something like bacterial vaginosis.

If it is a yeast infection you really now need to find out what the cause underlying the infection is. There are several triggers that could be the culprit, wet underwear, douching, antibiotics, birth control pills, detergents, sex with a partner that is infected for example. Make sure you have the proper protection when having sex as it can become a vicious cycle of passing the infection back and forth, if both do not get treated. Common treatments both prescribed and over the counter at your local pharmacy/drugstore are Fluconazole, Diflucan, ketoconazole and clotrimazole.

There are several forms that treatments can come in, creams, that are applied externally to the area of the vagina, and pills that can be taken orally or inserted into the vagina like a suppository. However many women find these yeast infection cures to be ineffective.

So they have tried homeopathic remedies and have had much better success such as yeastrol. If possible it would be a good idea to visit a proper homeopathic doctor as they can help in finding the root of the problem as well as giving you something that will be a permanent relief from symptoms and infection.

Natural treatments not only clear up the candida (the fungus that causes the yeast infection) they also help have a positive impact on your overall health as you have to make changes to your lifestyle. Pregnant women in particular should look to natural remedies as conventional treatments can be dangerous for the unborn child. Diabetics too will benefit as controlling a yeast infection involves controlling your sugar intake.

Do enough research and you will discover there are many different treatments for vaginal yeast infection but which ones actually work? This article will look at effective treatments and what to avoid for health and safety reasons.

There are several over the counter options as well as prescribed drugs a doctor can give you including suppositories, creams, names like Monistat, Fluconazole and Sporanox. But these are usually quite pricey, especially if you have a recurring infection, and come with side effects that are just as unwanted as the symptoms of your infection. Home remedies do not carry a heavy price or adverse effects and for this reason many women are turning to natural treatments when they get a yeast infection.

Garlic has some wonderful healing properties and can be used to treat several different illnesses including yeast infctions. It is anti fungal and anti bacterial and so fights the Candida, the micro organisms that are causing the yeast infection. Eat fresh garlic either added to food, or if you can cope with it, eat a clove raw. It can also be used as a suppository by wrapping a peeled clove in cloth and then inserting. It has a positive affect on the burning symptom too.

Yogurt also acts against the yeast as long as you eat or use the plain live probiotic kind. Plain is important becasue sugar feeds the yeast. It is the most popular natural treatment women use at home. The good bacteria in the yogurt get the yeast back under control. Eat it everyday or apply topically. You can also dip a tampon in it and insert it.

The great thing about these two home remedies is that it is quite possible you already have them in your kitchen, and if not they are easy to get. No wasted money on expensive drugs that do not work. Of course only use a natural rmedy you know you will not have problems with – if you are lactose intolerant, the yogurt is not a good option. If you are unsure check with your doctor.

Yeast is a type of fungus and like all fungi it thrives in warm, dark and damp environments. There are many different types of fungus most of which will do no harm and some of which we can even eat like truffles and mushrooms. There are though some fungi that have the potential to do harm and one of these is Candida Albicans which is the fungus that leads to yeast infections.

This fungus is on us all the time but are controlled by the good bacteria in our body. When the fungus is allowed to grow and spread is when the yeast infection occurs. If our imune system is not functioning as it should there is not a lot our body can do about it. This article looks at three things that can cause a yeast infection to arise.

Injury or damage to the area can be one reason a yeast infection happens. Protective layers of the skin can be broken when damp and warm skin rubs against each other. In obese people this is a problem as they have more skin folds. This gives the yeast a chance to get into the skin. Other areas that have this problem are the groin, the armpits, under breasts and even between toes. If you have a tendency to be in warm steamy environments like kitchens or indoor pools you are more likely as this is the environment the yeast loves.
As already said, noramlly the good bacteria in our bodys, on our skin, will control the yeast. They do this because they want the same nutrients the yeast does and so the competition for food keeps them balanced. They also prefer an environment that yeast does not like living in and so this stops them from growing. If you take antibiotics, steroids or some other prescripted drugs these kill the good bacteria meaning the yeast can grow unchecked.

A weakened immune system can also lead to an infection. Factors that cause a weak immune system may be an illness like HIV, malnutrition, no exercise, lack of sleep or a lot of stress. Cancer is another illness that can have a poor effect. Transplant patients taking anti reject drugs can also be more prone.

Once you know what causes a yeast infection you can take steps to change your lifestyle or avoid situations that are going to put you more at risk.

A yeast infection happens when the fungus that causes it is able to overgrow because of a weakened immune system and/or good bacteria in your body being killed. The fungus called Candida Albicans lives normally on us and is usually harmless, but as soon as conditions allow it to grow and spread it becomes a yeast infection. Symptoms are itching, pain, swelling, redness and discharge. There are several ways to treat it once you know what you have. Visit a doctor for a prescribed anti fungal ointment, visit the pharmacy for over the counter creams and suppositories or visit mother nature!

There are many effective natural treatments for yeast infections but the most popular of them is yogurt. Yup all you need to do is take a trip to your local grocery store and get some yogurt but make sure it is the right kind. You do not want anything added to it, it has to be plain, no added fruit and definitely no added sugar. Sugar is a food for the yeast, it will help it grow! You also want a live cultered yogurt, the type they advertise nowadays that has good bacteria in it.

You can use the yogurt in a few ways. First of all eat it! Try to eat a generous amount daily to top up your internal good bacteria. You can also use it directly on the infection. Spread it on with your fingers, or dilute with some watter and put in a spray bottle and spray it on. If it is a vaginal infection you can dip a tampon in the yogurt and then insert it for benefits to the vaginal canal.
Using yogurt will not only get you more good bacteria which is what keeps the yeast under control, it will also provide a wonderful soothing sensation to the itching and burning symptoms. Just keep using it until the infection is gone.

If yogurt is not as successful as you would like there is also a product that is gaining in populariy called Yeasterol, which comes in the form of a spray. As you can see your doctor or the pharmacist are not your only treatment options now.

Yeast infections can be embarrassing to have and difficult to ignore with the itching, soreness, swelling, burning and pain. There are options available to you though other than the traditional prescripted drugs or over the counter treatments. This article will share three natural remedies with you that are fast, effective and easy to use so that you can take care of the symptoms while you find the root cause.

1) Yogurt Ice Cubes – These are a wonderfully soothing remedy that will greatly ease the itching and burning symptoms. Using plain yogurt that is the live cultured kind pour some in ice cube trays and freeze it. When they are frozen apply them directly to the infected area. Not only do you get that short term symptom relief, the good bacteria in the yogurt will also help get the yeast back under control and stop it from growing.

2) Unsweetened Cranberry Juice – This is another quick and easy way to combat the yeast infection and its symptoms, you can also eat fresh cranberries for their healing benefits. Make sure the juice is unsweetened as sugar is a food source for the yeast and will help it grow.

3) Garlic – Has many healing properties and works very successfully on yeast infections. Peel a clove of garlic and rub it over the infection. Leave it over night and then rinse with warm water and pat dry. It is important you dry yourself thoroughly. You can also mash the garlic up as a paste and use it that way, and of course eat it daily. Garlic has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial healing properties.

It is important to know however that though these natural remedies will soothe symptoms and maybe even battle the yeast to a certain extent, their effect is limited. In order to completely get rid of the infection and prevent future outbreaks you need to find out what caused it and then deal with that. If you do not do this there are still yeast cells left waiting for another time when the conditions are perfect for them to multiply and become a yeast infection again.

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans which live naturally on us but are usually harmless because they are kept contained by the good bacteria in our bodies. However sometimes conditions change and the fungus grows and becomes a yeast infection. The vaginal yeast infection is the most common type and women often do searches online to find out how to treat it themsleves because they do not want to use traditional methods. Many over the counter cures and prescripted drugs have side effects. The common forms are suppositories and creams such as Monistat, Fluconazole and Sporanoz but they can be expensive.

Usually home treatments are easy, cheap and do not come with risks to your health and so more women are turning to them. But how do you know which ones actually work?

1) Garlic

This has wonderful healing properties like anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties so it can fight and stop the growth of the yeast infection. There are a few ways you can use the garlic. The main way is as a suppository by peeling a clove, wrapping it in cheesecloth or gauze , twist it then insert it. You can also mash a clove up and apply the paste direct to the infected area. Though there is sometimes a burning feeling when using garlic topically, this usually passes.
The other option you have if you do not want to use garlic directly is to take it orally. Crush and use on top of foods you are eating or if you can manage it, chew a clove and swallow. Try to do at least one clove a day.

2) Yogurt

This is also a great product to use on yeast infections if you use the right type, and is probably the most popular natural remedy women use. Get plain live probiotic yogurt. You need it sugar free as sugar feeds the infection and lets the yeast grow. The good bacteria in this type of yogurt will fight the yeast and it is also very soothing on the itching and burning symptoms. Apply it topcally like an ointment, dip a tampon in it and insert or eat a generous portion daily..or do all three!
Usually these treatments are perfectly safe and risk free and they do not come with side effects like drug treatments, but should you have allergies do be wary!

Skin rashes related to yeast infections are likely to appear around the genitals, under folds of skin, the mouth or armpits. Of course skin rashes are the symptoms of many different ailments and so if you are unsure on what is wrong with you then visit a doctor straight away to get a professional diagnosis. A rash on the vagina as a result of a yeast infection leads to the main symptom of itching. Yeast infections are caused by a fungus that is naturally living on us already, overgrowing. There are different causes of yeast infections but changes to the pH level for hormonal or drug related reasons is common.

For babies, yeast infections around their bottoms from not being changed enough can happen. The fungus thrives in warm, damp and dark areas. The mouth is another place babies can get it (Thrush) from poor bottle sterilization. Older adults are also prone to Thrush if they wear dentures and are not looking after them properly. Yeast infections can affect anyone, young, old, male or female, under the nails, under breasts in obese in their folds of skin and in the lower abdomen.

If you act promptly and visit the doctor he or she is likely to prescribe an anti-fungal cream for the rash which should clear it up. There are also over the counter treatments you can choose from at the pharmacy but some people find that these options only treat the symptoms and the infection often comes back. For these people they and their doctor may need to monitor your habits and diet to see what lifestyle changes are needed so that the root cause is sorted out.

As mentioned before often changes in hormones can be a cause of yeast infections including pregnancy, menstruation, menopause and birth control pills. Other causes that are not specific to women are a diet that is too high in sugar and carbs and yeast foods, inadequate levels of hygiene, synthetic and tight clothing, using perfumed products or getting it from someone else who was infected.

Most men believe that yeast infections are a woman’s problem, not theirs but I am afraid this is a total misconception and more men need to become aware of what a yeast infection is and what the symptoms are to avoid going untreated. In fact male yeast infections are on the rise today.

Part of the reason for this is that men are having unprotected sex with a female partner who has a yeast infection. There is a large risk that doing this can result in the man becoming infected too. The yeast infection usually affects the penis and the area around it and can have quite a large impact on a man including how well the penis functions when urinating and when having sexual intercourse.

Apart from getting it from unprotected sex, there are other reasons a man may become more likely to contract this infection. Firstly an immune system that has been weakened means that the man is less able to fight the infection off. A yeast infection is just like other bacterial infections in that the immune system when strong keeps them away and your body healthy. But if weaker from another illness like HIV or cancer treatment, the immune system is not always able to fight it off.

Antibiotics are also a factor that can lead to a yeast infection as they kill all bacteria good and bad. You want good bacteria in the body because they are what keep the fungus under control.

As mentioned sex with an infected partner is a large cause. I will mention here that though use of a condom will help reduce the chances of getting a yeast infection it may not wholey prevent it as the yeast may be in the surrounding area of the vagina where contact happens.

Hopefully this information will help you prevent getting an infection and has made you more aware of the risks. If you do think you have an infection visit your physician to get a proper diagnosis.

Avoid sugar and foods containing sugars as these feed the yeast. Try to add supplements of vitamins to your diet to give your immune system a boost.

Symptoms to look out for are yellow scaley patches in the mouth that look like blisters. These make it painful to swallow any food or drink and may even bleed if you scrape at them. The earlier you treat this the less chance you have of it returning. There are several options open to you, some work and some are potentially dangerous. Therefore make sure you are informed and think carefully about the route you take.

Some people nowadays turn to over the counter treatments and have success, but many are becoming unhappy with those and the prescripted options. There are several reasons for this, a reluctance to put uneccesary chemicals in their bodies, the side effects that can result and sometimes just becasue they are ineffective. The alternative is to try natural treatments which can help relieve the smyptoms and the infection. Firstly make sure you drink plenty of water and you have excellent oral hygiene. Brush and floss regularly and use mouthwash.

There are several reasons why you may have gotten Thrush. Antibiotics when used over a prolonged period can cause yeast infections. Other reasons may be an unhealthy liefstyle and diet that has too many yeast and sugar foods. Avoid sugar as it feeds the yeast, and leads it to breed more rapidly.

By knowing what causes the infection you can prevent it from returning once you have treated the current one. One final natural remedy suggestion is eating lots of natural plain yogurt each day. It has good bacteria that will slow down the yeast’s growth, will fight the infection and will provide a much needed soothing feeling.

Normally when you hear about a yeast infection you think of the vaginal infection for women or the penile infection for men, but a yeast infection caused by the Candida fungus can also infect areas of the skin. This article will look at three common places a person can get a skin yeast infection.

Vagina

This is the most common place for a candida infection to occur because of the perfect breeding environment for the fungus, warm, damp and dark. The fungus can grow to excessive amounts both in and around the vagina leading to itching and burning symptoms. Very serious cases can have symptoms of lesions and sores also.

Penis

When a man has sexual intercourse with a woman who has the candida infection in her vagina, he can get a yeast infection on his penis. However a problem that men often face is being able to tell the difference between a candida infection and a sexually transmitted disease. Serious cases of men with penile yeast infection can have blisters on the head of the penis making it painful to urinate or to have sex. In particularly bad cases these blisters can extend from the head and shaft to the man’s inner thighs and even the anus.

Folds of skin

Intertrigo can occur under folds of skin because they are damp and warm. Areas that are likely to be infected are the groin, underarms, under breasts, and under folds of skin in the overweight and obese. If there are also cuts or lesions in that infected area the yeast micro-organisms will enter the bloodstream. It is vital that a person has excellent hygeine routines if they are frequent yeast infection sufferers. Take showers frequently ensuring you lift folds of skin and soap them down and rinse properly. Also dry off thoroughly. When sweating a lot use a dry towel to wipe down under the folds as soon as you can so that the yeast does not grow and mutliply at a much faster rate.

If you are a guy suffering from a yeast infection do not worry there are safe easy treatments for you and three are explained right here. Women can chat and talk about anything including swapping what they know about effective natural treatments but this is not something you talk to you pool buddy with! However you may not talk about it but men can get them for a variety of reasons including sex with an infected partner, and so here are some things you can do about it.

1. Monistat

Although this is aimed at women this cream can also be used by men. Just apply it directly on to the penis. If the cream feels too strong and causes an irritation dilute it a little with water. To boost up the treatment use vinegar too as this is an antifungal natural treatment also.

2. Virgin Coconut Oil

Inside the oil is caprylic acid which fights yeast. Take two to four tablesppons each day to help your body fight the Candida.

3. Garlic

This is also a female yeast infection treatment and works because of its antifungal and antibacterial properties. Women tend to apply it directly to the vagina but men can do a shot! Fill a shot glass with milk or olive oil. Cut up a clove of garlic and chew it and swallow. Then chase it down with the shot. The olive oil or milk are good with the garlic but if you do not like either just use water.
Different men find that different treatments work for them so you choose which one you want but then stick with it so that it has time to work. In order to get rid of the cause of the problem it may be time to look at your diet, your lifestyle, your clothing and your hygiene routine to avoid future outbreaks.

Sadly for some women a yeast infection is a recurring problem that can go on for years. Despite visits to the doctor and pharmacy for medications and over the counter treatments the cycle continues. This is because these treatments are treating symptoms not the underlying problem that is causing the yeast infection. If this is not treated the yeast infection will keep coming back.

Some women have some success with those treatments but a large propertion of yeast sufferers find that these are not designed to be a permanent solution. After all the drug companies want you to keep coming back to buy their product, it means more profit for them. To permanently cure the infection you need to make lifestyle changes and diet changes. While you are doing this there are natural remedies that are cheap and easy to use that will help the fight and take care of the symptoms.

Each person has a different lifestyle so you need to look at your own, not use another’s example. Check your diet for foods you should not be eating like sugar, carbohydrates, yeast, fermented products, processed and refined foods. Foods you need to eat more of are vegetables and fruits, grains and fibre. Other things you can look at are wearing loose clothing made of natural fibres, and having a good hygiene routine that includes proper drying. Pay close attention to the genital area and any folds of skin. The yeast loves warm and moist and dark environments.

Curing the yeast infection and treating the symptoms naturally from the comfort of home is easy, cheap and comes with no side effects. Tackle the root of the problem and you will finally stop that cycle of itching, burning, pain, swelling, redness and discharge. You will also free yourself of the headaches, the fatigue, the aching muscles and mood swings.

A bonus to these steps is that not only will it take care of your yeast infection, it will make you healthier in general.

What is a yeast infection?

A yeast infection happens when a fungus called Candida Albicans is allowed by your body to grow and multiply. Usually your immune system and good bacteria stop this from happening but if these have been adversely affected by illness, antibiotics or hormonal changes then the over growth can occur.

What do I do if I think I have an infection?

The key is to act quickly. If you think you have a yeast infection you need to decide which medication is best for your body and your lifestyle. Treat it as soon as you can as the quicker you treat it, the easier it is to get rid of. Plus you avoid conditions worsening and other health complications. Ideally you should treat it within 72 hours of diagnosis. There are also diet considerations and you need to find out what foods to avoid and what foods to eat more of.

Do men get yeast infection?

Yeast infections are not just a female problem. Men can get them too usually through unprotected sex with a partner who is infected. Some diabetic men are more prone to them and taking antibiotics for a long time opens you to them too.

How do I know which medication to use?

The treatment you choose depends on the type of infection you have and its severity. Children as well as women and men can get them so obviously the strength of medication for a child is less than for an adult. If it is a vaginal infection there are many creams to choose from, if it is Thrush (oral yeast infection) there are sprays.

Why do people chose natural over medicated?

Natural remedies are safe, they do not come with side effects like medicated treatments do. It does not matter whether you are male or female, they work for both. Creams can be messy and some people report that the medicated options have only partly treated symptoms and their infection keeps returning. Since they are more expensive this then gets to be a lot of money for what becomes a returning infection. Natural remedies are easy and work just as quickly.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms vary slightly depending on person and type of infection but include itching, burning, pain during sex and while urinating, swelling, redness, white thick discharge, odor, headaches, tiredness, stomach problems, depression and aching joints.

Many women are becoming unhappy with the traditional over the counter or prescribed medication treatments for yeast infections that are available. Chronic and recurring infections are becoming resistant to them and so women looking for alternative options are discovering natural treatments.

Part of the problem is that because more women are self diagnosing, too embarrassed to visit their doctor, they have been going straight to the pharmacy. However sometimes they are incorrectly diagnosing themselves which means they are incorrectly treating themselves, giving their bodies a chance to develop a resistance to the medications. So when an infection does come along the medication is ineffective. Plus whatever is really ailing you is going untreated too, so this is bad for you.

Another reason to turn away from pharmacy products is that they come with side effects and natural cures do not. They are also more expensive. Though that initial say $30 does not seem too bad, if you are finding you are repeating the treatment then the cost builds up. Antibiotics should be particulary avoided as a treatment from your doctor for a yeast infection. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, good and bad. You need those good bacteria to keep the fungus under control, without them it multplies and becomes a yeast infection.

Some women find that the pharmacutical products only temporarily relieve symptoms. Since they want to make money the drug companys are not going to be too concerned that their product does not actually provide an actual cure as they may claim.

Natural cures are better for you becuase they are working for you not against you. There are no side effects and they simply help your body do what it is designed to do. Yeast infections are caused by over growth of Candida when the good bacteria or the immune system have been weakened. It may have happened from antibiotic use, an illness like HIV or Diabetes or hormonal changes. Natural cures help reboost these and rebalance the body. They restrengthen the immune system, top up your good bacteria and balance your body’s pH.

They are also a lot cheaper and easier to get. In fact you probably have at least one natural remedy in your kitchen cupboards or fridge already!

There are micro organisms called candida living on our bodies which are a type of fungus. When this fungus grows too much and is not controlled it leads to a yeast infection. It is usually controlled by good bacteria we also have in our bodies but sometimes something kills those good bacteria, or our immune system is not working properly. Things to look out for are over use of antibiotics and illnesses like HIV or diabetes can weaken the immune system.

It is not just women who get yeast infections, men and even young children can too. Usually a person who gets a yeast infection gets it in one area of the body, the genitals (the vagina or the penis) or the mouth etc. However there are some who are very unlucky enough to get a systemic infection which means the whole body is affected. This article is going to give some information about systemic yeast infections and some natural cures that you can try. Common symptoms that can occur anywhere on the body are:

• Pain and burning
• Clear to white to yellow discharge which can be watery, cottage cheese like, or thick in consistency
• An odor – usually reported as yeasty like a brewery or bakery
• Itching, rashes sometimes white patches

Usual places for yeast infections to occur are the vagina or penis, the mouth and under folds of skin (so overweight people are more at risk). Other affects the yeast infections have on the body are:

• Headaches and dizziness
• Immune system weakening
• Tiredness and difficulty breathing
• Itching of the anus
• Constipation or diarrhea

It is very difficult treating a systemic infection because of it spreading around the body if left untreated. If you believe you have a yeast infection take steps to treat it straight away. In order to help treat or prevent it avoid sugar and carbohydrates as these feed the yeast. Add plenty of vegetables and good proteins to your diet and take supplements if needed to get enough vitamins. Just this piece of advice alone could help reduce the problem by as much as 40 per cent!

In order to correctly self diagnose whether you have a yeast infection you really need to be familiar with the usual symtpoms that women report. Being able to self diagnose also means you are able to treat the infection that much quicker which means a greater chance of success. It is important not to ignore symptoms as the infection is not going to magically disappear. You need to be very sure that it is a yeast infection and not a bacterial problem before you treat it as some of the symptoms are similar and even doctors have confused the two with incorrect diagnosis.

Below are six main symptoms and then some other signs that are not directly linked to the vagina.

1.	Itching – this is the most commonly reported symptom, sometimes women say that it can get so severe it is hard to walk and impossible to leave the house.

2.	Burning – The burning is usually as a result of too much scratching. It burns particularly when urine passes over cracked irritated skin.

3.	Pain- when uriniating and during sexual intercourse. It is important to note that yeast infections can be passed to your sexual partner, whatever their gender, during intercourse, so if you are able to have sex use a condom.

4.	Discharge – Usually a thick in consistency and white or clear in color. A few have said it was yellowy. The consistency can change however and can be like cottage cheese or even watery.

5.	Odor – A yeasty smell like bread or beer. The smell you find in a bakery or brewing facility.

6.	Swelling and redness – Again usually from scratching the infected area too much.

Other signs of a yeast infection that are not vaginal include depression, acne, joint aches, lethargy and a lowering of self esteem. There are other symptoms out there though, so if you are suffering from any of these plus you are experiencing symptoms or signs that are not usual for your health seek medical help.

Sometimes men who are suffering from a yeast infection do not realise that they have it. This means that he may pass it on to his sexual partner during sexual intercourse, as it is transmittable though it may not be classed as an STD. It is important therefore that whether male or female, if you have or think you may have a yeast infection that you practice safe sex and make sure you use condoms.

It is an easy matter to take care of a male yeast infection via natural means and it is important to do so as soon as you are aware of it, as letting the yeast spread makes it a lot harder to treat with any success. If the infection is allowed to go untreated for a few months a total cure with just natural means in particular is difficult.

When a yeast infection is not effectively treated it can become a chronic infection or reoccuring which means you are constantly having to find ways to treat it, and are having to deal with awful symptoms such as itching, pain, swelling, redness and rash. There can sometimes be a white discharge that comes from the tip of the penis too.

Sometimes if you visit the doctor you may be prescribed antibiotics as a treatment, and though this may help with your symptoms and even clear up that present case, antibiotics are really not a good idea. This is because antibiotics kill all bacteria, good and bad, and since the good ones are the ones that keep the Candida under control, if you take them you are actually opening yourself up to another infection.

As over the counter treatments also come with side effects and only treat symptoms, natural remedies are the only treatment that makes any sense. A popular natural cure is vinegar as it also greatly reduces the itching in the infected area. This is due to the vinegar readjusting the pH and creating an environment the fungi does not thrive in.

There are other natural cures if this one does not work for you, just do a little research and I am sure you will find the right one for you and your body.

When you think you have a yeast infection the automatic response is to get youself to your pharmacy or drug store and find an over the counter treatment for it. However what many do not realise is that over the counter treatments are not always the best treatment option, and that natual treatments can be a great alternative choice. This article will offer you some information on why this is so in order to help you be better informed when you are shoppping for a cure.

Do they work?

Interestingly enough over the counter treatments are not really cures for your yeast infection. They tend to treat the symptoms (the itchiness, redness, discharge, swelling, and discomfort) but not the cause of the infection which means it will return. You think you are cured because the symptoms are masked or gone, but really you are not becasue the root of the problem, the actual cause of the yeast infection, has not been dealt with. After all the purpose for making treatments for htese companies is to make money, so they want you to have to buy it again.

Too Expensive

These over the counter cures are often quite expensive. Perhaps if you were only having to pay out the money once it would seem like value for money, but you usually find the yeast infection returns so you think you need to buy it again, this then becomes pricey. Sometimes treatments can be $30 or even more for each time you purchase it. If you have reoccuring or chronic yeast infection this can become pretty expensive.

Side Effects

Many of these products have negative and harmful side effects to them that can cause a seperate problem to the original yeast infection. They can also stain and ruin clothing and bed covers.
For the above three reasons I would recommend natural remedies instead of over the counter ones. Natural remedies are less costly, more effective, less damaging for your health and easy to find. However the choice is of course yours.

However there are other ways to get Thrush including birth control pills, systemic diseases like diabetes, medicine therapy and antidepressants that have tricylic treatments.

Although there are many over the counter treatments for yeast infections they tend to focus on the vaginal type, and unlike the vagina or penis you cannot just put a cream on your mouth. Therefore if you want a medicated cure you will need to visit your physician, who is likely to prescribe a pill. The likely prescripted cure he or she will write for you will probably be one of the three choices below.

There is an antibiotic antifungal drug that is known as Nystatin or Mycostatin which is popular as it usually does not have any negative side effects.

Mycelex or Ketoconazole can be suggested as it binds with the fungus and changes them, but some takers find this a hard drug to tolerate.

Fungizine or Amphotericin B is also a harsh medication and has several unwanted side effects. The liver needs to be watched when a sufferer takes this.

It would also be a huge advantage to look at your diet whilst treating your mouth yeast infection, as the food you eat can have a direct impact on it, and there may be foods you do not eat that could help you fight it. Keep a food diary, noting down if there are any impacts on your infection whether positive or negative and adjust your diet according to what you find out. For example usually sufferers find that yeasty foods, sugary foods and carbohydrates are a big no no as these provide nutrients and are a food for the yeast, so it grows more. On the other hand, yogurt if it is the plain, live kind, soothes the mouth when eaten and also contains good bacteria that will help fight the fungus that causes the yeast infection.

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus from the Candida species. It is more common in women though it can occur in men and children too. Signs that it is a yeast infection are pain when urinating and sometimes during sex, thick white discharge, itching and redness. It is very uncomfortable to have and can cause the sufferer embarrassment.
Finding the right treatment can be tricky as many people are turning away from prescripted medication and over the counter ointments due to the cost and side effects. Thankfully there are efective home remedies that people can turn to for relief. They are easy to use, easy to get and easy on the wallet and body.

1.	Plain Yogurt

The top choice for many sufferers is yogurt. In the right types of yogurt are acidophiles, a bacteria that produce hydrogen peroxide. When used, the hydrogen peroxide tackles the pH level in the vagina making it less hospitable for the fungi Candida Albucan to live there. Use sugar free, plain probiotic/live yogurt. No sugar added is important because sugar is a yeast infection food supply. To use it you can eat it daily of course, but you can also smear it across the infected area. To deal with the infection in the vaginal canal, dip a tampon in the yogurt then insert it. If you find the yogurt is absorbing too much into the tampon first coat it with olive oil. Leave the tampon inserted for at least a few hours.

2.	Vinegar

The weak acid in vinegar is another way to bring the pH of the vagina back to neutral. To use it, add some to your bath water and soak in it for a good amount of time. The vinegar will help kill the fungus.

3.	Fresh Garlic

This is a great remedy as it has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral components to it. It can kill the Candida fast taking the horrible symptoms with it. To use, peel a clove and place it in some cheesecloth or gauze, dip in olive oil to lubricate and then insert it into the vagina.
As you can see these are three remedies that you probably have in your kitchen already, and if not, simple to get from your grocery store. Also look at your diet and your lifestyle so that you prevent future breakouts.
