Over The Counter Yeast Infection Treatment
When you think you have a yeast infection the automatic response is to get youself to your pharmacy or drug store and find an over the counter treatment for it. However what many do not realise is that over the counter treatments are not always the best treatment option, and that natual treatments can be a great alternative choice. This article will offer you some information on why this is so in order to help you be better informed when you are shoppping for a cure.
Do they work?
Interestingly enough over the counter treatments are not really cures for your yeast infection. They tend to treat the symptoms (the itchiness, redness, discharge, swelling, and discomfort) but not the cause of the infection which means it will return. You think you are cured because the symptoms are masked or gone, but really you are not becasue the root of the problem, the actual cause of the yeast infection, has not been dealt with. After all the purpose for making treatments for htese companies is to make money, so they want you to have to buy it again.
Too Expensive
These over the counter cures are often quite expensive. Perhaps if you were only having to pay out the money once it would seem like value for money, but you usually find the yeast infection returns so you think you need to buy it again, this then becomes pricey. Sometimes treatments can be $30 or even more for each time you purchase it. If you have reoccuring or chronic yeast infection this can become pretty expensive.
Side Effects
Many of these products have negative and harmful side effects to them that can cause a seperate problem to the original yeast infection. They can also stain and ruin clothing and bed covers.
For the above three reasons I would recommend natural remedies instead of over the counter ones. Natural remedies are less costly, more effective, less damaging for your health and easy to find. However the choice is of course yours.
