When talking about Candida Arthritis there are a couple of things to look at, septic arthritis caused by disseminated or invasive candidiasis and the link between Candida and Rheumatoid Arthritis. This article is focused in the former of these two conditions. Candida is a pathological fungus that most people associate with yeast infections, in particular the vaginal yeast infection. However it can cause other health problems and in people with weak immune systems and people in critical care in hospital it has a much more serious impact on a person’s health.

What is arthritis?

Arthritis is when the cartilage the lines the ends of our bones has been damaged leading the bones to rub against each other. This leads to the bones being damaged and symptoms such as swelling and pain. There are several things that can cause arthritis including a systemic candida infection.

Candida Arthritis caused by invasive candida

Candida arthritis is not at all common, just because you have arthritis and candida does not mean they are linked, there are only specific circumstances in the case of septic arthritis caused by candida. There are two ways it can occur, a patient in hospital may develop candidemia but go untreated and the candida arthritis develops later, or in some cases despite the candidemia being recognized and treated appropriately, candida arthritis has still occurred. It actually affects children more than adults, about a third of babies that have neonatal candidiasis also have bone or joint problems too i.e candida arthritis.

Who is at risk

Candida arthritis risk groups include the following;

Babies are the highest at risk of candida arthritis or/and candida osteomyelitis. In one review it concluded that at least 85% of the cases were in babies 6 months or younger

Patients receiving organ transplants, having abdominal surgery or those with hematological disorders

Urinary tract manipulation patients

Patients that have had intra-articular injections

Drug users that take brown heroin intravenously

In most cases Candida albicans are responsible but there are cases of candida tropicalis, candida krusei, candida glabrata, candida zeylanoides and candida parapsilosis.

Symptoms of Candida Arthritis

Pain in the joints

Tenderness

In babies the affected limbs may have abnormal positioning

Warmth

Swelling

Usually the areas affected are the knees, but after it can also affect the hips, ankles and shoulders. In adults there is often a delay in presentation of candida arthritis after having candidemia, but in babies it happens together.

Treating candida arthritis

Systemic treatment and topical treatment is usually called for when treating candida arthritis. Anti-fungal treatment to treat the candida such as amphotericin B, or one of the azoles such as ketoconazole or fluconazole. Drug choice depends on the species of candida and the patient’s medical history. If there is an infected prosthetic joint involved this usually has to be removed and replaced with a new prosthesis. Local treatment involves synovial aspiration and if these options fail a synovectomy may be considered which is a surgical operation that removes part or all of the synovial membrane of the affected joint.

Candida albicans is the most common fungal cause of infection in humans including that of oral candidiasis, or mouth yeast infection. In fact between a quarter and a third of people have a small amount of candida in their mouths normally, but as elsewhere the good bacteria also there keep it from overgrowing and becoming pathogenic. When something kills or reduces the amount of good bacteria, like antibiotics, or when a person has a weak immune system such as those with AIDS, this can allow the fungus an opportunity to thrive. This article is about erythematous candidiasis, a form of oral yeast infection.

Thrush

Oral candidiasis, mouth yeast infection or Thrush all refer to the same problem, and is commonly recognizable from the white film that can be scraped away but reveals red lesions that may bleed below. This can also spread to the throat and down the esophagus in rare and extreme cases. There can be burning, pain, soreness, difficulty swallowing and tenderness. There are in fact 4 main types of oral candidiasis, pseudomembranous, angular cheilitis, erythematous candidiasis and hyperplastic.

Specifics about erythematous candidiasis

Erythematous candidiasis appears pink or red and affects the dorsum of the tongue and the palate in particular. It can also appear on the inside of the cheek in HIV positive patients.

Treating erythematous candidiasis

Treatment involves both identifying the root cause and trying to eliminate or deal with that, and then taking a course of anti-fungal medication. If the patient is on antibiotics and it is possible for this to be discontinued then this is also done. Good oral hygiene is recommended and if you wear dentures these should be left out as much as possible for the course of the treatment. There are six main treatments that can be used depending on your resistance, reaction, allergies and medical history. These are nystatin, miconazole, ketoconazole, amphotericin B, clotrimazole and gentian violet. Treatment is usually continued for another 2 weeks after symptoms have gone to be sure the fungus has all been treated.

Actions you can take against erythematous candidiasis

Avoid sugary foods as sugar feeds the fungus

Eat probiotic unsweetened plain yogurt

Take probiotic supplements

Avoid salty, spicy or acidic foods and drinks as these can make the burning pain worse

Brush your teeth at least twice a day

Floss at least once a day

Do not use non-prescripted mouthwashes or sprays

For a start it is important to understand that you cannot get a yeast infection after sex. But it can be passed on from an infected partner to the other. The genitals are a great place for a yeast infection to happen because they are the ideal environment, particularly the vagina (warm, dark and damp). If one partner is infected it can get transferred to the other, and then if only one treats themselves, it can get passed back again, getting harder to treat and so on.

The cause of the infection is a fungus called Candida. It resides in our bodies and usually causes no health problems for us. The good bacteria also living within us control the growth of the fungus because if this balance is upset and the good bacteria are depleted, then the fungus can multiply rapidly and this leads to a yeast infection. It can be hard to get rid of a yeast infection and continuing to have sexual relations will make it harder.

The best action to take is to abstain completely from having sex because is possible to get a yeast infection after sex. Condoms are not ideal because there are some spermicides that actually make the infection worse. Now abstaining for a long time can be frustrating so I am sure you want a treatment that is effective and fast. There are several options when you want to treat it.

Mainstream include creams and lotions topically applied and pessaries. They work fairly well but as they are drug based they do come with side effects and tend to treat the symptoms rather than the root cause. Also the infection can learn a resistance to the drug based options. This leads to a recurring yeast infection.

This means more people are turning to natural options as they are free from side effects and deal with the root causes. There are many to choose from so do your research carefully and find the one or ones that work best for you.

When you get a yeast infection you can also get small raised bumps that occur on the skin around the infected area or on it. Yeast infections happen in moist and warm places which is why they are so common in the genital region. Most people tend to get the Candida infection in that region. It then results in horrible symptoms such as rashes, itching and soreness as the fungus over grows and the infection rapidly develops causing inflammation. Below you can read about some remedies for this condition that will help clear up those bumps.

If the bumps are the worst part of your infection that is actually a good thing, as this means you have detected it early on and a mild remedy will successfully treat it. But if you have the yeast infection bumps along with other more nasty symptoms such as blisters and a rash, lesions and sores, then this is a much more severe case particularly if those sores bleed too.

The bumps appear on the inner lips of the vagina, and can be both seen and felt. They can continue right into the cavity of the vagina as well. For men who are suffering from male yeast infection the bumps can appear on the shaft going up onto the head. In severe cases of this it can infect the scrotum.

To get rid of the bumps you can use over the counter topical treatments or prescribed anti-fungal treatments from your doctor. When it is a mild case your symptoms will go in a few days. There are also natural remedies you can try that some people prefer because they do not come with side effects. These include apple cider vinegar, garlic and tea tree oil.

Apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil you make into solutions which can be used in a squirt bottle to squirt the vagina for relief. If you have symptoms other than bumps such as itching and burning then develop you need to ask yourself why the infection is not improving. It may be you are on a course of antibiotics that affect yeast growth or you have a high blood sugar level which the yeast feeds off.

Usually uncommon male yeast infections happen after having intercourse or being intimate with an infected woman. It is easily treated with anti fungal creams, or there are prescripted medications for penile yeast infections. The condition is also known as Candidiasis. Though more commonly seen in women than men, men can get them. Those who are at greater risk are diabetics and men who are uncircumcised. It is not necessarily a definite thing, that sex with an infected woman will lead the man to get it, but it can happen. Men with foreskins are more likely because the foreskin holds moisture and is therefore an ideal breeding ground for the yeast. HIV sufferers are also more likely to get it. It is not just a penile infection, you can get oral yeast infection too.

Though safe sex is important, certain condoms can be attributed to yeast infections if they have the lubricant nonoxynol-9. Antibiotics are another causing factor, if taken for a prolonged period. They can kill the bacteria that are beneficial in our bodies, the ones that had been keeping the Candida Albans (the fungus that causes the infection) from overgrowing.

When the yeast enters the penis men can experience several symptoms. Jock itch is a common one along with pain, burning when having sex or urinating, the head is more red, soreness, white discharge, blisters and patches. Other signs are indigestion, loose stools, constipation, bad breath, mood swings, irritability, tiredness, bloating, gas, lack of energy, athletes foot, memory loss (in extreme cases) and prostrate problems.

It can happen in anyone at any age, even young boys as it can be triggered if feces touches the penis leading to bacteria from the feces causing a yeast infection. Babies can get it from diaper rash. Wearing damp clothing can bring it on as it provides an ideal breeding environment. Between the ages of six and nine children also face more risk of chronic oral cavity yeast infection, identifiable by white patches in the mouth.

If you have an infected female sexual partner you should get yourself checked. If the female gets treatment but the man does not, the infection can get passed back to her, and then it becomes a vicious cycle. Fasting glucose levels should be checked by men if they are facing a yeast infection.

Most men believe that yeast infections are a woman’s problem, not theirs but I am afraid this is a total misconception and more men need to become aware of what a yeast infection is and what the symptoms are to avoid going untreated. In fact male yeast infections are on the rise today.

Part of the reason for this is that men are having unprotected sex with a female partner who has a yeast infection. There is a large risk that doing this can result in the man becoming infected too. The yeast infection usually affects the penis and the area around it and can have quite a large impact on a man including how well the penis functions when urinating and when having sexual intercourse.

Apart from getting it from unprotected sex, there are other reasons a man may become more likely to contract this infection. Firstly an immune system that has been weakened means that the man is less able to fight the infection off. A yeast infection is just like other bacterial infections in that the immune system when strong keeps them away and your body healthy. But if weaker from another illness like HIV or cancer treatment, the immune system is not always able to fight it off.

Antibiotics are also a factor that can lead to a yeast infection as they kill all bacteria good and bad. You want good bacteria in the body because they are what keep the fungus under control.

As mentioned sex with an infected partner is a large cause. I will mention here that though use of a condom will help reduce the chances of getting a yeast infection it may not wholey prevent it as the yeast may be in the surrounding area of the vagina where contact happens.

Hopefully this information will help you prevent getting an infection and has made you more aware of the risks. If you do think you have an infection visit your physician to get a proper diagnosis.

In fact a yeast infection can happen anywhere on the body, your skin, your genitalia (man or woman) and yes even the mouth. It is a fungal infection and when it is in the mouth it is also referred to as Thrush. Symptoms range from white, cream or sometimes yellow spots or blisters, pain when trying to swallow food, burning of the throat and mouth and bad breath.

Thrush is contagious so it is important that actions should be taken to minimise infecting others. This is not an illness to be treated lightly as if it is not treated correctly and as soon as possible it can lead to other physical health problems. Anyone can get it, but it is more common amongst babies and infants who have bottles that are not cared for properly, the elderly who do not care for their dentures correctly, drug users and people that have poor diets.

There are several things to do to help clear an infection up or prevent one from occurring. Look at your diet and avoid foods that encourage the candida growth like sugars. Eat yogurt that contains lactobacilli daily. Floss, brush and rinse with mouthwash daily – good mouth hygiene is important. Visit a dentist once every six months for a check up and proper clean.

Remember to try and treat it at the start of the infection as you will avoid further complications this way. Those that do not react quickly enough, or have tried to suffer in silence, become chronic sufferers and doctors admit it becomes difficult to treat at that stage.

For anyone interested there is some research completed by a former sufferer Sarah Summer that will be of interest. After a long battle with the infection she decided to take matters into her own hands and researched about the subject herself. With her husband’s help ( a medical researcher) and with consultation with other experts she came up with a system of natural remedies to clear up the infection. Even those with chronic yeast infections can be successfully treated, so take a look at her site.

More often than not when a discussion about yeast infections occurs it involves women as after all over three quarters of women will or have suffered from them. However they are not, as people believe, a female illness. Men can get them too though it is not as common as for a woman. Treatments are the same however, usually people choose over the counter anti-fungal creams.

One way men can get a yeast infection is from sexual contact with an infected wife, girlfriend or sexual partner. A woman can pass a yeast infection on to a man during sex, and a man can pass it on to the woman too. For this reason it is important to either abstain for the duration of the infection or to practice safe sex and use condoms. But even using condoms there is still risk. Avoid a cycle of re-infecting each other and make sure you are examined by a doctor to confirm your condition is a yeast infection and not something else.

Other causes of a yeast infection are really the same as a woman. Antibiotics for an overly long time can lead to it as they kill all bacteria in the body including the good ones that were keeping the fungus micro-organism in check. Diabetics are more prone as well as people with illnesses that damage the immune system such as HIV sufferers.

Other lifestyle contributing factors are a diet that is high in sugar, using steroids, high stress and wearing clothing that is too tight. Yeast likes it warm and damp and tight clothing creates that very environment.

So now you know as a man you can get a yeast infection how do you identify it? Symptoms in men can include rashes, difficulty performing sexually, burning, discharge and discomfort. But sometimes there is maybe 1 or even no symptoms which makes it very hard to diagnose and then treat. Once you know you have it, treat it as soon as possible. Early treatment is important. If over the counter methods do not work for you, your doctor can prescribe something else.

For who knows how long now women have suffered from yeast infections. No matter what age, class or race a woman can get a yeast infection but the good news is it is easy to deal with as long as there are no serious conditions underlying the infection. A fungus called Candida over grows and this is when the problem starts. Though it is a micro-organism meaning you cannot see it with your eyes it causes symptoms like itching and burning. This article offers some natural treatments and changes you can make to treat and then avoid re-infection.

Cranberries are good for treating a yeast infection as it has properties that will fight it. Either the fresh berries themselves or the juice is fine and will give you fast relief and stop the fungus from spreading.

Garlic is a very popular method due to its anti-fungal and antiseptic properties. It works very quickly and can be used internally (wrap a peeled clove in gauze and insert it into the vagina) or externally. Eat it raw for it to take effect.

Tea tree oil also works quickly by diluting it and putting it onto the affected area. Dip a tampon in KY Jelly then drop a few drops on it and insert it. Do often for quicker and better results.

Boric acid can also be used directly on the infected area but you cannot use this if it is over a prolonged period of time.
Yogurt is probably the most common natural treatment women turn to first. Eat it (plain and sugar free) or apply it like a cream. For internal treatment dip a tampon in the yogurt and insert it into the vagina, do twice a day and you will notice a quick difference in your symptoms.

A final piece of advice about your habits. Make sure you wear clean underwear – if you need to, change twice or more a day. Wash the vagina with soap and water and make sure you dry there properly. Avoid scented soaps and other scented products in that region. They change the pH level and make the problem worse.

The major cause of oral thrush is Candida albicans – the yeast fungus that under normal conditions occurs naturally in our mouths and bodies. But when an imbalance occurs the yeast grows excessively and can then attack the host ie. you. Oral thrush must be treated as early as possible otherwise it can get complicated. Avoid sugar and foods containing sugars as these feed the yeast. Try to add supplements of vitamins to your diet to give your immune system a boost.

Symptoms to look out for are yellow scaley patches in the mouth that look like blisters. These make it painful to swallow any food or drink and may even bleed if you scrape at them. The earlier you treat this the less chance you have of it returning. There are several options open to you, some work and some are potentially dangerous. Therefore make sure you are informed and think carefully about the route you take.

Some people nowadays turn to over the counter treatments and have success, but many are becoming unhappy with those and the prescripted options. There are several reasons for this, a reluctance to put uneccesary chemicals in their bodies, the side effects that can result and sometimes just becasue they are ineffective. The alternative is to try natural treatments which can help relieve the smyptoms and the infection. Firstly make sure you drink plenty of water and you have excellent oral hygiene. Brush and floss regularly and use mouthwash.

There are several reasons why you may have gotten Thrush. Antibiotics when used over a prolonged period can cause yeast infections. Other reasons may be an unhealthy liefstyle and diet that has too many yeast and sugar foods. Avoid sugar as it feeds the yeast, and leads it to breed more rapidly.

By knowing what causes the infection you can prevent it from returning once you have treated the current one. One final natural remedy suggestion is eating lots of natural plain yogurt each day. It has good bacteria that will slow down the yeast’s growth, will fight the infection and will provide a much needed soothing feeling.

Yeast Infections are a common fungal infection that can become quite painful and uncomfortable. They can affect anyone, male or female and at any age. In women they are more commonly known to affect the vagina, in men the penis, in babies the mouth with Thrush and the eldery can also get Thrush. This is from bottles and dentures that are not properly cared for. Other reason for yeast infections are diabetes, long term antibiotics, steroids, weak immune system and birth control pills. For sufferers it is vital to find a treatment that works and works as quickly as possible. Leaving the infection untreated can cause other health problems as well as the symptoms becoming more severe.

The symptoms of genital yeast infection are itching that can get to be very severe and makes normal life difficult. Also there can be a burning feeling, penile or vaginal discharge that is white or yellowish, redness and pain during sexual intercourse.
Symptoms of oral yeast infection, Thrush, are white crusts in the mouth and on the lips below which are lesions that bleed if the white comes off. It is painful and you can also have bad breath.

The cause of yeast infections is when the Candida fungus grows more than it should. Normally it is present but controlled by the body and good bacteria. When an imbalance happens, the good bacteria are depleted or hormones etc the fungus has a growth spurt and leads to the yeast infection. So to stop the yeast infection you need to know why in your body the fungus is over growing.

The more common treatment for yeast infections are antifungal medications. There are also very effective natural remedies. These give a very fast relief but really only of the symptoms not the root cause of your infection. This means it will keep coming back until you deal with the cause. Since different people have different reasons for their problem this is something you need to look into.

The vagina is a perfect place for a yeast infection to thrive as it has folds, is warm, damp and dark. Vaginal yeast infections are very common and most women, around three quarters of them, will get or have had a yeast infection of the vagina. Out of those, some also have repeated occurences. It is therefore important to know the main symptoms so that you can identify what you have as early as possible. This is because quick treatment is important, leaving a yeast infection untreated can cause other health problems with internal organs and even the brain.

Itching is the most common problem usually and is accompanied with a swelling and redness of the area. There can be a clear or white or yellow discharge and its consistency ranges from runny to thick to lumpy like cottage cheese. Some get a very unpleasant odor, like a fermenting or yeasty smell. It is important to note here that should you be experiencing a fishy odor this is not a yeast infection sign but is a bacterial infection symptom. You need to know that as the treatments are different, if you treat yourself for a yeast infection but you have BV then your BV is going untreated and can worsen.

Other symptoms are pain, usually after urinating and during sex. It is painful during sex because of the swelling and possible dryness. Since it can pass to your sexual partner even if he is male, practice safe sex and have your partner check themselves. A possible course of action would be washing both partners genitals in diluted white vinegar to help readjust pH and make it inhospitable for the yeast to live there.

When deciding how to treat yourself there are three main options to choose from, visit your doctor for a prescribed medication, get an over the counter treatment from a pharmacy or seek out effective natural remedies.

In order to help prevent yeast infections there are some things you can do at home. Make sure when you wipe after urinating that you wipe front to back, the same after excreting. This will make sure no feces is moved to the vagina. Make sure you wash and dry thoroughly. Wearing cotton underwear helps as it lets the skin breathe. Avoid lycra or nylon and only wear panty hose if you have to!

It is a very bad idea to leave an untreated yeast infection and ignore it. Over three quarters of women experience at least one yeast infection in their lives and it is vital that it is treated as soon as possible, so as to avoid future complications. This article explains what can happen if an untreated yeast infection is left for too long.

Sepsis
One thing that could happen to your blood from leaving a yeast infection untreated is Sepsis. Your blood stream has bacteria spread through out it and it can have lethal consequences.

Vulvovaginal Candidiasis
This is a problem that only a doctor would be able to diagnose and treat. If you are one of the women who are finding they are getting a yeast infection at least three times a year seek medical advice straight away.

Chronic yeast infections can also have bad effects on your lifestyle, your moods and your sex life. Should you get an infection take care of it straight away. Treatments take care of the awful symptoms which include itching, burning, swelling and discharge. The symptoms are uncomfortable and will just get worse if ignored.

This is not one of those things that will go away by itself so burying your head in the sand won’t work! Visit a pharmacy and get over the counter help, there are many options available that offer one, three or seven day solutions. There are also home treatments you can try that include probiotic yogurts, garlic, tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar. Do some further research if you are interested in learning more about them. Many women swear that the home remedies are more effective than the medicated ones.

Leaving an untreated yeast infection for a long length of time is a very poor judgment call. Get over the embarrassment and get it treated or it will get worse or lead to complications that are life threatening. A yeast infection is not worth dieing over.

Vaginal yeast infections happen when a fungus called Candida Albicans is given the right environment to overgrow and spread. Recurring means you have four or more infections every year. There are several reasons you might have this problem and do not worry you are not alone in it. In fact many women incorrectly treat their infection or use ineffective methods and have it come back because they got rid of the symptoms and not the cause. The following explanation for recurring infections may help you make changes to your life that will stop the cycle for good.

Environment
Candida like most fungi thrives in warm, damp and dark areas. To avoid giving it its ideal environment wear loose clothing, wear cotton as it allows the skin to breathe and when you can, avoid underwear altogether! You want to do whatever you can to get as much air as possible circulating in the infected area. Avoid pantyhose, synthetic materials, and tight clothing. Wash thoroughly but then dry thoroughly also after showers and swimming etc.

Diet
The things you consume have a vital role to play and are the leading cause if it is a poor diet. High consumption of sugar is a terrible idea as the yeast feeds on it. Processed foods, alcohol, caffeine and nicotine are also poor choices. Cut these out of your diet and find some relaxation techniques to avoid stress and sleep well.

Immune systems
Antibiotics can weaken immune systems and are also bad because they kill good and bad bacteria, and it is the good bacteria in your body that regulates the fungus. Other things that weaken the immune system are drugs, stress and illnesses like HIV.

Diabetes
Diabetics are at a higher risk to reoccurring yeast infection because of their sugar levels. If you are not controlling your diabetes properly with a good diet and exercise, your sugar levels become too high. Again yeast feeds on sugar and so enjoys high sugar levels!

Birth Control Pills
Another well known cause of infections. This is due to the level of progestogen in some pills. Those that have higher levels cause more instances of reoccurring yeast infections in women.

As most people know when you get a mouth yeast infection it has its own name Thrush. It is not a hugely common problem and for that reason was only really defined medically recently. Twenty years ago the causes of it were unknown and only the visible symptoms were ever treated. For example a doctor would scrape at the white patches leaving the sufferer with a bleeding raw mouth. Due to this a permanent solution was not discovered for mouth yeast infections.

Mouth yeast infections are particularly unpleasant and painful. Thrush is obvious by the white areas on the tongue that look like curd. They can also be found on the sides of the mouth and vary in size from two to three centimeters. Thrush affects the throat too as the white patches can go down it though the patient may not realize it. Those particularly susceptible are babies and toddlers from poor cleaning of bottles.
It is important to treat Thrush as it can actually spread through the body and damage organs like the intestines. So it may be less common but it is far more dangerous than vaginal yeast infections.

Now we know the main causes of the infection which is steroids and antibiotics as these have a direct impact on weakening the immune system. This is why HIV and AIDs patients are common sufferers and this is also true for fibromyalgia and lupus patients.

There are four parts or stages to Thrush which are Moniliasis, Erythematous, Chronic Hyperplastic and Angular Cheilitis. Moniliasis is the known Thrush symptoms. The milky white areas on the mouth that when scraped have bleeding and raw lesions beneath.

Erythematous is when the red patches are scraped off on the palate and tongue.
Chronic Hyperplastic happens when scraping doesn’t work on the edges and their color is affected by food, drink and tobacco.

Angular Cheilitis affects the mouth with cracks that have a thin membrane over them.
Over the counter treatments look like they are working as they treat the visible symptoms but can sometimes make it worse. Though you may get temporary relief from the pain it will return because the root problem has not been dealt with.

Are you struggling to keep your baby’s bottom clear of a diaper rash? There are creams that are designed to treat them, and the rash will normally clear up after 3 or 4 days but if that is not working maybe it is not diaper rash. Maybe it is a yeast infection. There are several things you can do to soothe his or her poor bottom and get rid of the infection.

Firstly it is very important that you make sure you change the diaper regularly. Yeast loves wet and warm areas, and if the baby is sitting in a wet diaper, the yeast is thriving. Occasionally let your baby kick free after taking off a soiled diaper so that it airs out down there. Check that you are not doing them up too tight and trapping in too much heat.

Breast feeding is the best way to feed your baby. But if you are breast feeding, there are some things to watch out for. If you are taking antibiotics while breastfeeding, this can lead to the yeast infection in babies. The prescription is killing the good bacteria (in your body as well as the baby’s via the milk). If you have a yeast infection you may need to consider stopping until you have it cleared up as it can be passed on and this could lead to Thrush. (oral yeast infection).

There are antifungal creams out there that can be used on babies safely. They have an ingredient called miconazole which can deal with the yeast infection if it is only a mild case of it. If the infection persists stop using the cream straight away as your baby may be allergic. There are natural remedies that are a lot safer that you can research about, that do not have the risk of side effects or allergies. It is probably best to consult your child’s doctor for any treatment you try, just in case.

Your baby may be in a lot of discomfort and be upset and crying a lot. Although you may not expect a yeast infection, babies can be affected by it too. It is important that you act as quickly as you can to help them.

You have symptoms including white spots on the roof of the mouth and your tongue is white too. It is a visible infection and you are aware others can see it and are judging you by it. People think sufferers are unclean. So here is what you can do to get rid of it once and for all.

Garlic
Garlic has been used for its healing properties by many people across the centuries. It has anti-fungal properties which is why it is good for your mouth as it will fight the yeast. This is a treatment to do at the end of the day so as to avoid garlic breath! Chew a slice of a garlic clove raw and use some milk to wash it down. Once its inside your intestines it will also act against the yeast there.

Buttermilk
The key to fighting yeast infections are probiotics; good bacteria. Buttermilk has probiotics which will help cure the infection. It is not a common grocery item as the other two items are, but most stores now carry it. You need to drink one or two cups a day.

Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice is not only a refreshing drink it is also able to stop the yeast from attaching itself inside your body. Drinking it every day will mean your mouth is cleared as will is your intestines. Try one or 2 glasses a day but do check that is a no added sugar juice, as sugar feeds yeast.

If you want you can use all three of these treatments in combination to maximize results. Once you have dealt with the symptoms and most of the yeast you may need to do further research on how to kill yeast spores so you can eliminate the throat yeast infection for good(as sometimes with these remedies there are a few spores that are left, so you think you have cured it but then it reoccurs).

Many adults think incorrectly that yeast infections are grown up infections not infant. However, children can just as easily develop the conditions that candida loves. They do not just get Thrush (yeast infection of the mouth). Candida can multiply out of control in the young and lead to an infant yeast infection anywhere it is warm and wet.

Of course the main place other than the mouth that has a warm, wet environment is the diaper area. It is a great place for the yeast to grow due to the diaper trapping heat and urine against the baby’s skin. It is therefore extremely important that babies and infants still in diapers should be changed regularly. The area must be cleaned and allowed to dry, particularly in hot conditions such as summer time, when the child will be sweaty down there. If you use cloth diapers they must be cleaned carefully and thoroughly to make sure the candida does not have the environment it needs to spread.

Another action you can take to help your child is be very careful about them taking antibiotics. This is one of the most well known causes of yeast infections. Antibiotics attack bacteria, all of it, meaning they destroy the bacteria flora which are the micro organisms in the child’s body that were actually keeping the candida under control and thus preventing an infection.

Symptoms to watch out for in babies and infants are rashes, itching, crying when urinating and redness in the genital area. If you observe any of these, do not presume it will just go away by itself. You need to visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis. There are natural remedies to deal with yeast infections, but as you are dealing with young children it is important to consult with your doctor about any treatment you are considering in case your child proves to be sensitive to them. Natural remedies are less costly, are time proven and are pretty easy to find.

With all these being said, you now know the main important things to do when trying to deal with an infant yeast infection.

Though many people usually hear Thrush and think of it as a baby mouth yeast infection, in actual fact adults can get it too. The way both get it are different however. Babies get thrush when they are exposed to it usually through bottles that have not been thoroughly sterilized. The exposure actually helps their immune system develop a way to deal with it and is not that much of a problem for them meaning there is little pain or irritation. In adults though it is a very different matter.

Adults getting thrush is rarer and tends to happen when their immune system is already weakened drastically for example they are on chemotherapy or have HIV/AIDS. Teenagers are known to get thrush as it can be passed on when they have unprotected oral sex. Safe sex is always an important message to pass on. If your immune system is fully functional it can fight a mouth yeast infection, otherwise sufferers are faced with several uncomfortable symptoms.

These include pain inside the mouth and around it, thick white areas on the tongue (on babies this can be milk so see if it scrapes off, if it does it’s milk not thrush) mouth and lips, damp areas on the side of the lips and sometimes those infected get a fever. If you recognize any of those symptoms you should visit a medical professional as soon as you can to get an expert diagnosis. Do this even if you would rather use natural remedies rather than prescribed ones.

Should you want to try out natural treatments for thrush get some plain natural yogurt. You want the kind that has probiotics in it, live cultures. This has good bacteria, and good bacteria are what fight yeast infections. Make sure it is plain though, sugar feeds it and gets the yeast infection growing and spreading. Take some yogurt and put it onto the infected area for a few minutes a time. Do this 4-5 times a day. Not only do the active bacteria in the yogurt help cure the thrush infection, it also helps with the painful symptoms by giving you some cool relief.

Having an Acidophilus yeast infection is irritating and painful but there are many options for treatments. One option to treat Candida albicans is to use Lactobacillus acidophilus. It helps get rid of Candida albicans from your intestines and vagina by depriving the Candida of the things it needs to grow and develop. It does not engulf the solid particles of the yeast fungi ( phagacytosis) but basically starves it and so works slowly. Therefore should you want to have the infection taken care of with any kind of speed use something in conjunction with it.

The cause of Acidophilus yeast infections is the fungus Candida albicans, which is actually in around eighty per cent of humans. It resides mainly in the intestines, vagina or mouth because it loves to live in areas that are a little acidic and have a lot of sugar, are moist and mostly dark. That does not mean that everyone that has the fungi is going to get a yeast infection, its environment needs to change in its favor first.

There are a few ways Lactobacillus acidophilus and other probiotics are able to keep Candida under control. The main way is its food or the chemicals it consumes for energy. Since both probiotics and Candida feed on the same things i.e. sugars, it keeps the candida’s growth under control as it has to compete for its food. The good bacteria and the fungi are in balance.

As well as eating the same food acidophilus releases lactic acid to raise the pH of the area in which it is living. It does this because it likes to live where the pH is lower hence its name meaning acid lover. However Candida albicans are the opposite. They would rather an environment that was less acidic with a mild pH. So when there are plenty of good bacteria around they eat the fungi food and make it too acidic for the it to grow. Thus they are less likely to infest the region of the body in which they are residing because they are kept in a weakened state.
